Ski and Ride the Lightest Driest Snow in Japan
Central Hokkaido is famous for its exceptionally light and dry “bonchi” powder snow. Storms travel east from Siberia, gathering moisture as they pass over the Sea of Japan before releasing copious amounts of powder snow on Hokkaido’s central mountains. Most of this snowfall arrives in the months of December, January and February. As these storms travel farther inland before reaching the region, the snow here tends to be lighter and drier than that found at coastal resorts such as Niseko.
Luxury Lodging Just Minutes from the Ski Lifts
You will begin the tour with four nights at the Winery Hotel in Furano and then travel north to Asahidake where you will spend two nights at the Hotel Bear Monte. These properties offer the perfect blend of convenience, comfort and traditional Japanese hospitality. You can store your gear in guest ski lockers, unwind in the hotel’s onsen, and gather with friends in the hotel lounge. The onsite restaurants feature fresh, local ingredients and seasonal flavors. Dinner is included at Hotel Bear Monte and a wonderful buffet breakfast is included at both locations. All lodging is double occupancy. Single occupancy rooms are available with a supplement.
