Convenient Non Stop Direct Flights to Japan

Japan’s powder snow capital Niseko is located in the northern island of Hokkaido.  Niseko is just 68 miles from Sapporo’s New Chitose International Airport (CTS) and is accessible with direct flights via Tokyo from most major cities in the US, and Canada.  Direct non-stop flights to Sapporo’s New Chitose International Airport are also available from Hawaii.

Non Stop Flights From Tokyo to Sapporo

With more than 80 flights per day, getting to Niseko via Sapporo’s New Chitose International Airport (CTS) in Hokkaido is easy. Flight time from Tokyo to Sapporo is approximately 95 minutes.

Two international airports service the Tokyo area, Narita (NRT) and Haneda (HND).  Most international flights arrive at Narita while Haneda serves mostly domestic destinations.  Avoid where possible having to transfer between Narita and Haneda airports unless you are overnighting in Tokyo, as travel time between the two is approximately two hours.

Japow Vacations recommends booking your connecting flight to Sapporo (CTS) as part of your international ticket.  This is the easiest and most convenient option.  Your final destination will be Chitose International Airport (CTS).

Low cost airlines such as Jetstar Japan, Peach and Vanilla Air are also an alternative for your Tokyo to Sapporo connection however, pay close attention to their strict baggage policies to avoid exorbitant fees.

Should I Rent a Car in Japan?

A number of our luxury accommodation options include a complimentary 4WD rental vehicle.

If you wish to rent a vehicle during your stay in Niseko in order to access nearby resorts and other attractions there are a number of car rental options with locations at Chitose International Airport (CTS) and in Niseko including Nissan Rent a Car and Toyota Rent a Car who cater to English speaking customers.  With 600 inches of snow per winter falling in the Niseko region we recommend that you have a high comfort level with driving in snowy winter conditions.

In order to rent a vehicle in Japan you will require an International Drivers Permit in addition to your own driver’s license.  The process to obtain an International Drivers Permit is relatively simple  however we recommend you obtained a permit prior to your trip to Japan.  Please see our FAQ’s page for our Guide to Driving in Japan and how to obtain your International Drivers Permit prior to your departure.  Please contact us should you have any questions about renting a vehicle in Japan.
